Increase in Development Permits is Promising

A thirteen-fold increase in commercial and industrial development permits in 2010 is great news for Langford. Although it may be too early to say that’s it’s a good indication that the economic challenges of the past few years are completely behind us, it reinforces the fact that Langford Council’s efforts to encourage that type of development with the steps we took in 2008 are paying dividends. The increase in our commercial and industrial tax base will enable us to continue making improvements while avoiding the kind of tax increases that have been the norm in other municipalities, and that’s good news for our residents.
